The Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is a specialist provider of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence in our eating disorders, adolescent, rehabilitation and PICU services.
An exciting opportunity exists for a full-time Clinical Psychologist to join a dynamic psychology department providing input to our Young People's Acute Inpatient Service. Evergreen ward will provide support for young people who require a high dependency acute admission for a range of mental health difficulties and associated risks (including attachment difficulties and emotional dysregulation, psychosis, anxiety and depressive disorders, and self-harm and suicidality). In addition we are excited to offer a new therapeutic pathway on the ward for young people with disordered eating. These young peoples eating difficulties are expected to be a result of trauma experiences, a function of self-harm, linked to autism or other neurodevelopmental conditions, or other complex conditions such as ARFID.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be embedded within the multi-discplinary team within the acute service and will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the therapeutic model within the ward. The role is extremely diverse and involves assessment and formulation, a range of direct individual and group brief interventions, indirect working, facilitation of reflective practice, consultation and training to the wider staffing team, and supporting psychological approaches to care. There will be a benefit of protected caseloads within this role and the successful applicant will be clinically repsonsible for a maximum of one ward and will also be working alongside a qualified CBT Therapist.
Suitable candidates will have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the HCPC. They should have some interest in, knowledge of and experience of working psychologically with adolescents, complex client groups and risk, and dynamic and fast paced services and environments.
There are excellent CPD and training opportunities for employees within this service, and funded and accredited training opportunites will be available and agreed as part of the role, subject to a successful period of probabtion.
The psychology department has strong research links with local Universities, providing placements for trainees from a number of different courses on both core and specialist placements.
