Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Manager on our 10 bed Eating Disorder ward. You'll be providing senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team in support of the ward manager.

Main duties of the job

The role involves:

  • Providing senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team in support of the Ward Manager.
  • They will have a degree of clinical experience and leadership that provides expertise and confidence to the nursing team and ward overall.
  • They will have defined delegated responsibilities from the ward manage, protected time for their deputy ward manager duties and have supervisory responsibilities for an agreed group of staff.

Priory Hospital Preston is a 38-bedded independent mental health hospital, specialising in the management and treatment of acute mental ill health and eating disorders. Opened in 1998, the hospital has established an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care together with an extensive range of services delivered across three units:

  • Bartle Ward 10-bedded eating disorders
  • Cottam Ward 12-bedded acute mental health
  • Rosemary Ward 16-bedded acute mental health

The Bartle Unit provides effective individualised programmes of care for the successful treatment of anorexia, bulimia and other related conditions.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • First level Registered Nurse (RMN)
  • Experience within an Eating disorder setting
  • Clinical supervision experience essential
  • Evidence of CPD and intent to maintain and develop CPD and leadership
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience in Acute Mental Health
  • At Least 18 months, or equivalent post registration experience preferred
  • Mentorship desirable however training could be provided
