Job summary

Priory Hospital Stockton Hall are looking to recruit a highly motivated occupational therapist to join our team of forensic occupational therapists and therapy assistants. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to detained males within our mental illness Service Line or to detained female patients within our 12 bedded medium secure ward. 

We currently have two vacancies available. One position is 30 hours per week, working on the male mental illness ward, and the other is a full-time role 37.5 hours per week within the female service. 

Working in a medium secure setting, you will demonstrate a good knowledge of occupational therapy input into risk assessment and risk management, and will be an integral member of the clinical team. Standardised clinical tools based on the Model of Human Occupation will be utilised where the post holder has identified their appropriateness using specialist knowledge. 

You will work with a variety of conditions which are often complex and challenging and will require a good knowledge of occupational therapy input into risk assessment and risk management. The post holder will supervise junior members of the occupational therapy team, as well as contribute to service developments where appropriate. You will act as a positive role model promoting the value of occupation, as well as upholding the values of the Priory Group. Our commitment to individual clinical and management supervision and continuing professional development will support you in this specialist role. The suitable candidate will have the opportunity to supervise other members of the occupational therapy team, as well as contribute to service developments.

Previous experience of working in women's and/or secure services or in-patient services would be beneficial, however we are keen to hear from candidates who have an interest in working with women.
