Job summary
Priory is the leading independent provider of mental healthcare and adult social care in the UK.
We are looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Head of Safeguarding and Named Professional for Adults. This established role within Priory works across our Healthcare and Adult Care Divisions and is focused on ensuring excellent practice at all levels of the organisation. The role is a specialist advisor to the Chief Quality Officer whilst also providing support to our network of divisional, regional and site safeguarding leads. The role supports our continuing programme of safeguarding training by guiding our in-house training team. They will work closely with the wider Quality Team to facilitate learning, develop practice in line with national legislative and case law changes. They will provide expert advice into complex cases, working closely with our Head of Mental Health Legislation.
This role gives the postholder an opportunity to work across all 4 UK nations and to be involved in shaping the safeguarding strategy and approach in a way that will fundamentally improve the lives of the 30,000 people that we support every year.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit an experienced Safeguarding Professional who has worked within a Health or Social organisation, and who holds a relevant professional registration. The candidate will need to be able to work at scale, create meaningful networks and relationships, be able to identify risk and priorities for the organisation, escalating and developing solutions where needed.

practitioner with in-depth knowledge of safeguarding children and adults and has advanced analytical skills,
reporting into the Chief Quality Officer. This role will provide professional leadership and promote good
safeguarding practice across the Priory Group.
A key function of the role will be to ensure and monitor that the rights and needs of patients are safeguarded
and underpinned by legislation, government strategy and local policies and guidance.
The Head of Safeguarding role will work alongside a dedicated Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and
Transition (including Looked after Children) to support Regional safeguarding Leads and provide expert advice
to Safeguarding Leads where required. Commissioning arrangements will mean the opportunity to support
colleagues in complex safeguarding work including working with external stakeholders

Healthcare Division, providing specialist advice and operational support in support of national or local policy
changes.
- Facilitate the delivery of high quality safeguarding practices to agreed quality standards which comply with

- Support the Regional Safeguarding Leads in working closely with staff to ensure that decision making is
supported by highly specialist safeguarding advice and that lessons learned are shared across the division as
required.
- To act as a member of the Divisional Safeguarding, providing expert advice, challenge and insight into wider
trends across the division.
