Principal Procurement Category Manager (Digital & IT)

Job summary

Are you an experienced procurement professional who would like to join our established Digital & IT category team as a Principal Category Manager?

You will lead a small team and take ownership for the delivery of at least one of our Digital & IT category frameworks. Developing specific strategic sourcing programs/ strategies across our client base and being responsible for the delivery of several key projects.

This position is predominantly home based, but there is an expectation to attend meetings at our Salford office once/ twice per month.

Main duties of the job

What you'll be doing:

  • Work closely within the Digital and IT Category to ensure effective management and delivery of portfolio framework agreements
  • Review and negotiate draft contracts for the category area
  • Lead and develop a small team of Category Managers and Buyers
  • Pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets
  • Analyse data and identify areas of cost savings and operational improvements to advise procurement plans
  • Supporting the Senior Category Manager with the management of key areas of improvement such as review of purchasing procedures, benchmarking, and day-to-day customer and supplier interactions

  • Public Sector procurement experience
  • Knowledge of UK Public Contracts Regulations (PCR 2015), and ideally experience in operating in compliance with these
  • Familiarity with contract Terms and Conditions, and ideally experience in drafting and negotiating these
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of managing small teams
  • CIPS Level 5 or working towards

It would be great if you had:

  • Project Management qualification PRINCE 2 or APM
  • Experience and/or knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions
  • Experience and/or knowledge or working within the NHS
