Patient Care Locally CIC

Roving Healthcare Unit Driver

The closing date is 15 March 2026

Job summary

We are looking for a proactive and reliable individual to join our team as a Roving Healthcare Unit Driver, supporting the delivery of our innovative mobile healthcare services across the Midlands.

Our Roving Healthcare Units bring essential healthcare services directly into communities, helping to improve access for patients who may otherwise struggle to attend traditional healthcare settings. This role is key to ensuring these clinics operate safely, efficiently and provide a positive experience for patients and staff.

This is a varied and hands-on role combining driving, site setup, coordination and operational support. You will work closely with clinical and operational teams to ensure the unit is fully prepared for each clinic and that services run smoothly throughout the day.

No two days will be the same, and you will play an important part in helping deliver high-quality care closer to home.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities

  • Driving and positioning the Roving Healthcare Unit at community clinic locations across the region.
  • Leading the setup and close down of clinic sites, ensuring all safety and operational procedures are followed.
  • Carrying out vehicle and equipment checks to ensure the unit is safe and ready for use.
  • Supporting the clinical team by preparing equipment and ensuring essential supplies are available.
  • Acting as the on-site point of contact to help coordinate the smooth running of clinics.
  • Ensuring appropriate patient information and literature is stocked, maintained and available during clinics.
  • Supporting pre-visit planning with stakeholders to ensure clinics run efficiently at each location.
  • Reporting incidents or issues in line with organisational procedures.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to improve service delivery.

About us

Patient Care Locally (PCL) is a GP-led Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to delivering high-quality NHS services outside of the traditional hospital setting. Founded in 2011 by local GPs, we operate as a "not-for-profit" social enterprise where all surpluses are reinvested back into the local healthcare economy to improve services for our 1.1 million residents.

Our mission is simple: The right care, at the right time, in the right place. Our Strategic Partnership with the ICB: We are an integral partner within the LLR Integrated Care System (ICS), working in close collaboration with the Integrated Care Board (ICB). While the ICB is responsible for the strategic planning and allocation of NHS resources, PCL acts as the delivery arm for community-based elective care.

  • System Transformation: We work alongside the ICB to redesign patient pathways, moving services from overstretched hospitals into local primary care settings.
  • A Unified Voice: We represent the interests of our shareholding GP practices at the ICB level, ensuring that the voice of General Practice is heard in high-level decision-making.
  • Efficiency & Value: In 2023/24 alone, our innovative models saved the LLR ICB approximately £4 million, proving that localized care is both clinically better and more sustainable.
