Job summary

LLR PCL is commissioned by LLR ICB for the provision of vaccination services and within here, the Supervaccinator workforce. This role will support LLR PCL to be able to move Supervaccinators from their current host employer to LLR PCL and then to develop and expand the service. There is a potential for the service to grow in the future alongside the Immunisation and Screening agenda to be offering further services and supporting the MECC agenda which the role has the ability to support and drive forward.

The purpose of the role is to support the Supervaccinator role deliver high quality services across LLR, ensuring that Supervaccinators meet quality and governance requirements of the service. The role will also be required to liaise and encourage practices to utilise and take up the offer of the Supervaccinators, making sure that this provides best value for the practice and that within this, the reputation for both LLR PCL and also the LLR Immunisation Programme is maintained.

Immunisation Leads play a key leadership role in delivering effective vaccine programmes, including keeping themselves up to date with immunisation information, and providing vital information to patients and healthcare bodies.

Specifically, the role will include the onboarding, communication, coordination and scheduling, maintenance of training records, clinical practice and sign off for new staff or staff expanding their skills sets and general escalation and support.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

Line management & service delivery:

Scheduling staff rotas and communicating bookings and requirements to General Practice and other users of the workforce.

Proactive engagement with practices to make use of the Supervaccinator workforce and to create best value of this resource this could include supporting with project development around inequalities within practices if required by the Immunisation Programme.

Working in collaboration with the broader immunisation teams within General Practice and the Roving Units, the Immunisation Leads are crucial in safeguarding public health and promoting community wellbeing and engagement.

Acts as a mentor and respond to any escalations or queries from staff, escalating to the Head of Quality and Safety as required.

To maintain effective communication with this staff group, letting them know about the context of current Programme plans, general communication around employment and pay queries and plans for the future of the service.

Delivering education to team members and patients.

Ensuring appropriate staff are trained, skilled, knowledgeable and competent in administering vaccines and providing training and support where necessary.

Maintaining training and other HR records for the staff ensuring compliance and organisation of training courses on behalf of the workforce as required.

Administering vaccinations and monitoring patient safety.

Completing identification of eligible people for vaccine invitation and advising on immunisation course completion.

Developing and implementing standardised procedures for vaccine administration and adhering to best practice in accordance with national guidance.

Ensuring recommended guidelines, policies and procedures are followed to maintain vaccine potency and prevent avoidable waste.

Planning, working, and liaising with other members of their team, sharing and co-ordinating tasks to ensure the efficient delivery of the service.

Responsible for ensuring that data is collated and fed back into the LLR Immunisation Programme detailing the success and performance of the service. This is currently completed through sitreps for tracking of the conversations and vaccinations completed, but could be expanded and developed in the future.

Completion of evaluation on the success of the team and objectives across the team based on key metrics agreed such as staff capacity, target numbers of contacts and immunisations, as well as qualitative data and patient experience.

The postholder should feel empowered to make suggestions around how the service can be improved and expanded upon.
