Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for Advanced Practitioners to join our team on a permanent basis, based at our Urgent Treatment Centre within Malton Community Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Working as an Advanced Practitioner within our Urgent Treatment Centre, you will be responsible for the assessment of health and clinical needs of our patients, undertaking consultations as an autonomous practitioner, you'll use your advanced clinical practice skills, and own clinical judgement to diagnose, treat, refer or discharge patients. This role will include face to face consultations supported by a rota covering weekdays, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Malton UTC covers the hours of 8am - 8pm.

Job responsibilities

Working as an autonomous Practitioner you will;

  • Carry out consultations with patients - taking a comprehensive patient history; physical examinations and use of your expert knowledge and clinical judgement to identify potential diagnosis.
  • Decide on and carry out treatment, including the prescribing of medicine or referring to primary or secondary care specialist services within local agreed pathways and protocols as appropriate.
  • Managing patients presenting with minor injuries including referral and interpretation of x-rays.

    • Registered Nurse or Paramedic - First Level Nurse or other healthcare professional qualification leading to registration.
    • Evidence of degree level study or equivalent.
    • Degree in advanced practice or equivalent.
    • Evidence of completion of study in minor illness.
    • Independent non-medical prescriber.
    • Evidence of study in minor injury or willingness to develop these skills.
    • Evidence of completion of study in paediatric minor illness or willingness to develop these skills.
    • Evidence of study in paediatric minor injury or willingness to develop these skills.
