This role focuses on engaging with workplaces across Nottinghamshire to support employers and their staff in improving health and wellbeing. You will work closely with local businesses to provide training, guidance, and access to services that promote healthier lifestyles, with a particular emphasis on reducing health inequalities related to tobacco use and increasing awareness of ABL services. As a Workplace Health Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering evidence-based interventions within communities, including those in areas of greatest deprivation, helping individuals make positive and sustainable behaviour changes. This is a highly rewarding position where you can make a real difference to peoples lives, requiring flexibility, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a proactive approach. The role also includes delivering stop smoking support through face-to-face and telephone clinics, with full training provided to achieve NCSCT Level 2 Stop Smoking Practitioner status.
Main duties of the job
This is a varied, challenging, and rewarding role focused on delivering high-quality smoking cessation support across community and workplace settings. You will engage with local businesses to build partnerships, assess workforce needs, and develop referral pathways into the Stop Smoking Service, while collaborating with external organisations to promote wellbeing at work and reduce health inequalities. A key part of the role involves providing client-focused support, motivating individuals to overcome nicotine addiction and adopt healthier behaviours through evidence-based interventions, including one-to-one sessions, group delivery, drop-ins, and remote support, in line with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme. You will work with clients to set realistic quit goals, offer ongoing behavioural and motivational support, and facilitate peer support groups to help prevent relapse. Working collaboratively with other professionals, you will embed smoking cessation into routine care and maximise the overall health impact within the community. The role also involves analysing health and equalities data to respond to local needs, contributing to service development, and ensuring delivery is efficient, high-quality, and accessible across diverse populations. You will maintain accurate and compliant records in line with ABL Health standards and use your organisational skills to manage competing priorities effectively.
