Job summary

You will be the Community Engagement Officer, covering the Borough of Sefton to support our Smokefree Sefton service.

You will be expected to lead on community engagement and drive awareness of the service through our promotions, social media and engagement activities. You will be expected to increase referrals into the service by promoting community engagement and building long-lasting relationships with local partners and other varied stakeholders. This will involve being responsible for developing and maintaining strong, positive and long-lasting relationships with a wide range of stakeholder groups, including but not limited to leisure services, the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprises (VCFSE) sector, and community services as well as GP practices and childrens services.

Main duties of the job

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include supporting the effective promotion and development of the Smokefree Sefton service through community engagement, partnership building, and contributing to service delivery. You will implement the ABL Community Engagement Strategy and contribute to the Communications Plan, with support from the communications team. Building and maintaining strong relationships with local services and partners will be key to raising awareness, generating referrals, and exploring opportunities for co-production. You will collaborate with Project Leads and operational teams to support referral activity and identify new referral routes, as well as represent the service at local meetings and events, occasionally delivering presentations to groups. Using data, feedback, and engagement insights, you will input into service development, maintain the partnership database, and provide regular engagement updates during team meetings and in reports. The role also involves supporting communications efforts, such as public events, training sessions, and social media activities, with occasional evening or weekend availability as needed. Additionally, you will work flexibly across the Smokefree Sefton team, including supporting service delivery when required

No two days will be the same in this varied and flexible role. If you are as comfortable spending a day with the team as you are working independently and confidently with new people and are highly organised this could be the job for you.

This is a demanding job, but you will not be on your own. ABLs highly experienced and friendly multi-disciplinary team of Health and Social Care professionals, Business Intelligence, Service Development, Governance, Finance and Business Development are there to support. Additionally, existing experienced delivery teams will be available to support you to drive the Service forward.
