Job summary
This role is extremely rewarding in making a difference to peoples lives. The role of the Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner is to support the delivery of evidenced based, equitable stop smoking services to help to reduce the inequalities throughout the contracted localities. This will include the delivery of services within areas of most deprivation. It is essential that the postholder can work flexibly, independently and as part of a team.
Training will be given to ensure staff / applicants are equipped to deliver effective services.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will motivate and empower clients to make positive changes in addressing their addiction, specifically supporting them through their stop smoking journey. You will explain the principles of nicotine addiction and the Stop Smoking Service to help clients make informed decisions, delivering evidence-based interventionsincluding one-to-one, drop-in, group, telephone, and online supportaligned with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme. You will work collaboratively with other professionals to embed smoking cessation into routine care, aiming to maximise health gains and reduce health inequalities. Understanding and using health and equalities data to identify local service needs will also be key. You will deliver high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective services across diverse community settings, lead peer support groups to help prevent relapse, and provide ongoing education and motivational support on behavioural change and smoking cessation. Supporting clients in setting realistic, sustainable goals and maintaining accurate records in accordance with ABL Healths documentation policies are also essential elements of the role.
