Job summary
Role Purpose:
You will train to deliver evidence-based assessments and interventions for children and young people in education settings with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, under expert supervision and as part of a dynamic and evolving mental health support team. As a trainee EMHP you will be joining a diverse team offering both clinical and non-clinical support to children, young people, and their families across Swindon.
You will work in partnership with school/college mental health leads by developing a Whole School and College Approach to mental health within your allocated schools.
Main duties of the job
To complete your training year through the university of Exeter by supporting you to develop your clinical intervention skills within the MHST enabling you to deliver direct practice within your allocated schools across Swindon (The university course will be a mixture of teaching delivered online or via a hybrid model of online and face to face classes in Exeter and Bristol).You will work in collaboration with other EMHPs, CWPs and mental health professionals, supervisors to deliver 1:1 interventions, groups, parent led interventions, work- shops and staff training.
To assess and deliver outcome focused, low intensity, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working at all times in collaboration with and giving respect to the education function of the setting in which the post-holder is deployed.
To help children and young people within these settings who present with as needing more support to rapidly access more specialist services by engaging with more senior staff in the signposting of referrals.
As part of the course, you will learn about and support the Whole School Approach to mental health and wellbeing.
