Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a fundraiser or events specialist to join our dynamic fundraising team at St Josephs Hospice. You will work as part of our public fundraising team, responsible for promoting and managing a mix of third party and bespoke events to raise income for the Hospice. You will work with the Public Fundraising Manager to implement a five-year income growth plan, focusing on delivering effective stewardship and hosting a varied range of challenge events.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will; Develop and deliver a diverse programme of events that combines third party and bespoke events with a mix of existing offerings and new and innovative challenge events. Work to deadlines to successfully deliver all events, ensuring they are brought in on budget. Support reactive events participants to engage and encourage. Implement a 5-year action plan to increase income and develop meaningful supporter journeys. Recruit and manager volunteers for roles including cheer points, marshalling and pre-event welcome events, where necessary. Promote and market events to maximise participation and income, working alongside the Fundraising Communications & Marketing Officer. Identify your own learning and development requirements to meet the key requirements of the post. Manage an expenditure budget of approx. £40K to deliver £300K in Year 1 (2026-27) Ensure that all fundraising is in line with Hospice Policy and the Fundraising Code. Keep abreast of all fundraising compliance and regulations and trends.

St Joseph's Hospice was founded in 1905 by the Religious Sisters of Charity and as such it has a rich, Catholic heritage which informs our work today: to support and welcome those in need, from all different cultures, religions and backgrounds. We provide high quality specialist palliative care for patients with cancer and other life-threatening conditions across East and North London. We have a large team of clinical staff who work across community, in-patient and out-patient services delivering individualised, responsive and holistic support to patients and their families/carers.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Officer in our fundraising team at St Josephs Hospice. We are looking with someone with fundraising or events management experience to deliver our challenge events programme. As our Events Officer, you will be responsible for managing our third party and bespoke events and supporting participants in their fundraising.

About you

You will need:

  • Experience in delivering events in a fundraising or marketing/similar environment
  • Excellent planning skills and experience of working to deadlines
  • Ability to evaluate and analyse data to inform change and new activity
  • Ability to develop relationships with supporters/customers, colleagues and external stakeholders
