Job summary

Do you have retail sales experience and love fashion?

Our Retail team is expanding! We are seeking an exceptional Sunday Retail Supervisor to work in one of our three Hackney-based Five Sisters Charity shops.

The successful applicant will be responsible for opening and closing the shop and must be available to work on Sunday.

It is a fast paced environment, and you will need to be target driven with excellent customer service skills. A good knowledge of brands and trends is a definite advantage.

Main duties of the job

Key accountabilities

1. Shift supervision

Responsible for supervising shifts in one or our two Hackney shops

Responsible as a key holder for opening and closing the shop, ensuring that it is open for business at the specified opening hours

Supervise shifts in other retail outlets as required such as market stalls and seasonal pop ups

Display merchandise attractively to maximise appeal to customers and as directed by the Retail Manager

Day-to-day responsibility for supervising and supporting a team of volunteers, including coaching and development

Contribute to the training of new volunteers as well as conducting refresher training as needed

Supervising and contributing to the delivery of the tasks that have been defined in the daily job list including cleaning, stock replenishment and sorting of donations

Responsible for ensuring that a great experience is delivered to customers by all staff and volunteers

Responsible for managing customer queries or complaints quickly and to their satisfaction, elevating the issue to the Retail Manager if necessary

Responsible for reporting any concerns relating to staff or maintenance to the Retail Manager

Leading by example, by promoting a positive working environment for volunteers

Build a good rapport with local people to encourage a strong sense of community

Develop accurate end of day figure sheets and any other financial or other reports required by the Retail Manager

Bank daily takings in line with Hospice policies and procedures.

Day-to-day responsibility for insuring that the shop and stock management processes are followed in line with health and safety guidelines.

3. Sales targets

Build an understanding of the required financial performance of each shop and retail outlet, and work towards achieving the sales targets with support from the Retail Manager.

4. Stock control

Assist with coordinating and supervising the collection, sorting and storage of stock that has been donated by the general public.

Play a significant role in controlling stock movement between the Hospice, the two shops and other sales outlets

Assist the Retail Marketing team in selecting items to sell through the Hospices online channels.

Personal development

Identify your own learning and development needs in order to meet the key requirements of the post.

Take responsibility for linking your own development needs with the Hospice appraisal and objective setting process.

Take responsibility for your own continuing development by undertaking specific areas of work/projects to develop new skills.

Take responsibility for your own professional development, including keeping up-to-date with relevant professional and other developments in HR at local and national levels
