About the Connect Health Pain
Services Mobile Injection Units
The MIUs
have been administering injections to NHS patients since 2016, in a range of
community and hospital locations across the country. They are fully equipped to
deliver safe and effective treatment including an X-ray machine and GE C arm which
are used for administering some injections/procedures. The MIUs have a recovery
area, consultation area and a mini theatre set up consisting of a theatre bed,
ultrasound, radiofrequency machine and a full emergency kit. The procedures we
provide on these units include Medial Branch blocks, Epidurals and
Radiofrequency Denervation procedures. We also use some physical estates
(theatres). The staff include Welcome Hosts, Radiographers, Operating
Department Practitioners, Recovery Practitioners and Consultants in Pain
Medicine.
Main duties of the job
This
post combines a clinical leadership role alongside a clinical caseload.
A core
function of this role is to work with the Operational Manager, Head of Clinical
Delivery (North), Clinical Delivery Leads within pain contracts, MIU Team Leads
and MIU clinical staff to ensure safe and
effective care, and an excellent patient and clinician experience. These
services are cross-specialty and are subject to change as contracts grow and
evolve.

What
you will do in the role:
Provide clinical leadership to colleagues
working within the services to ensure safe and effective delivery of clinical
interventions in line with professional standards and governance requirements
(incidents, complaints, risk, audit, medicines management, radiation
protection, infection control, safeguarding) with associated reporting.
Be accountable/responsible for the
implementation of induction, competency, supervision, and learning and
development frameworks within the services.
Be a Radiation Protection Supervisor and be
responsible for Radiation Protection.(Training will be
provided as required).
Monitor quality for clinical service delivery
and ensure the provision of personalised care.
Oversee and ensure that colleagues utilise the
Academy to support their professional and personal development, including
supporting a research culture.
Be responsible for the completion of clinical
Audits and quarterly Quality reports.
Report and investigate (as appropriate)
incidents and complaints, identify learning and implementing action plans.
Ensure robust systems and processes are
developed and implemented in collaboration with other colleagues and business
functions (e.g. Clinical Governances, IT, Estates).
Be responsible with the Operations Manager and
Team Leads for stock ordering and management on the MIU.
Contribute to Academy developments and delivery
by being involved with the faculty including leading on injection-related
content creation to support colleagues Learning and Development alongside
assuring the quality of any locally delivered learning sessions.
Ensure that the multi-professional workforce is
supported to thrive and develop in line with relevant policy and guidance e.g.,
recruitment, induction, supervision, performance appraisal, capability
assessments, wellbeing.
Develop/support Regions and foster productive
relationships with local clinical stakeholders including patient groups,
community groups, PCNs, Consultants, GPs, and other clinically important
contacts both internal and external to Connect, inclusive of reducing health
inequalities.
Ensure quality assurance and continuous
improvement of clinical quality (outcomes, experience, safety) within services
through a focus on quality improvement initiatives, pathway optimisation and
responsible use of available resources (e.g., clinical capacity).
Personally deliver high quality clinical care to
patients and lead by example in meeting the clinical and commercial needs of
the service.
Develop and promote a positive and dynamic image
and culture to both internal and external stakeholders. At all times reflecting
and encouraging core value behaviours amongst Connect employees.
Contribute to the implementation of business and
clinical strategy within the services, inclusive of business development
related activities (e.g., contract retention, mobilisation).
Contribute to and carry out other ad hoc tasks

These are primarily injections provided by Pain Consultants as part of our community pain services that span several geographical areas. This is in addition to the provision of high-quality care within your own clinical caseload on the MIU.
- To achieve this, the Clinical Delivery Lead will need to demonstrate a sound understanding of the clinical competencies required of the clinicians within the service as well as an ability to think, lead and effectively implement frameworks and services to meet the evolving requirements of the service(s) and patients. They will need to be highly self-motivated, and achievement orientated and be required to provide inspirational clinical leadership.
- From a clinical perspective the Clinical Delivery Lead will be an educated to at least Masters level (or equivalent) in their field of specialty and be able to provide a highly specialised source of expertise, with clear evidence of working at L7 across Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management, Education, Research and Audit as outlined in the HEE Advanced Clinical Practice Framework.
- This role is also open to those working at a Consultant-level of practice defined as being educated to doctoral level (or equivalent) with clear evidence of working at Level 8 across Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management, Education, Research and Audit as outlined in the HEE Consultant Framework.
