Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced MSK Clinician to join our motivated and fast growing team in the Herts Valleys CATS, MSK and Physiotherapy team! We are committed to a multi-professional workforce based on competency and welcome applications from Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and Rehab Therapists. We focus on competency, developing talent and offer great flexibility. Youll be registered with the HCPC or equivalent and be qualified as a professional that works within Musculoskeletal practice. If youre able to manage a varied caseload of MSK patients, committed to CPD and have the desire to develop yourself and the service, with a keen eye on improving patient care, then wed be keen to hear from you. Our interview process is competency-based and will seek to provide opportunity for you to demonstrate working at Level 7 practice across all four pillars required for an AP role.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the AP Team Lead in providing leadership and motivation to the clinical team to facilitate the achievement of personal and service objectives.
  • To push the boundaries of conventional rehab, ensuring that clinical reasoning and pathways optimise rehab, activity and public health messaging to support patient care.
  • To provide safe and effective delivery of clinical interventions in line with professional standards and governance requirements.
  • To personally deliver a quality clinical service, meeting the clinical and operational needs of the service.
  • To develop and promote a positive and dynamic image and culture to both internal and external stakeholders. At all times reflecting and encouraging core value behaviours amongst the team.
  • To develop and foster productive relationships with local patient groups, Consultants, GPs, other key stakeholders e.g. gyms, leisure centres.
  • To contribute to the shaping and delivery of the MSK content within the Connect Clinical Academy, engaging fully with their education pillar.
  • To embody and work within a culture of continuous improvement in order to continue to push the boundaries of clinical excellence through research, audit and innovation.

We are looking for motivated advanced practice clinicians who are passionate about the consistent delivery of quality, evidence informed rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions.

You will work as an advanced practice clinician with an expertise and specialist interest in rehabilitation of MSK conditions. This will include the comprehensive and holistic management of patients utilising advanced decision-making and clinical reasoning skills. The assessment, diagnosis, and future clinical management of patients under your care may be supplemented by appropriate requesting of specific diagnostic medical investigations.

You will have expert rehabilitation skills with the ability to apply them in different settings and in different types of consultations. You will be able to identify when rehabilitation is not the best management pathway and be able to refer to appropriate specialties as needed.

You will have the opportunity to develop the rehabilitation skills of others by working closely with less experienced members of staff. This may also involve developing MSK clinicians nationally through the Connect Health Academy.

To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical and professional activities.
