Main duties of the job

As a senior leader and Fertility Specialist, youll play a pivotal role in both patient care and clinic development. Youll:

Deliver exceptional consultations and perform all routine IVF procedures.

Plan, manage, and oversee personalised treatment journeys for each patient.

Communicate with patients with warmth and professionalism - whether thats face-to-face, by phone, video, or email.

Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing and support teams, including emergency advice when required.

Specific Duties/ Responsibilities:

Be a highly visible clinical leader ensuring staff receive timely and regular communications and are involved and engaged in the delivery of clinical services.

Lead and develop the clinical team, managing the clinicians to maximise team and individual clinician performance

. Demonstrate leadership and motivation within the Clinic and promote team working across all disciplines to ensure the continuous development of high quality, innovative care

. To work collaboratively and oversee the third-party Consultants who satellite into the clinic or provide anaesthesia services.

Ensure that Care and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders by conducting all external relationships effectively and to the benefit of Care.

Maintain and develop organisational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners and regulatory/official bodies.

Support a multi-skilled, multi-disciplined and diverse workforce to work as a cohesive operational group delivering first class treatments to patients.

Attend and contribute to the Clinics operating management meetings and Clinic meetings. Work collaboratively with other Medical Directors and the Group Medical Director to ensure that Care and national objectives are met.

Attend and contribute to the regular organisational meetings with other Medical Directors, Laboratory Managers, governance groups and speciality groups on an alternate meeting basis with the Clinical Director.

Report to the Group Medical Director UK and Executive Management team on all aspects of patient care, clinical performance and medical workforce issues.

Work closely with and support the Clinic Director to support a robust clinical governance and quality framework.

Support the Clinic Director with commercial decisions and changes as and when required Driving Excellent Clinical Quality:

Work collaboratively with the Clinic Director, Group Medical Director and the Care CG & Q team to deliver the agreed governance and quality systems.

Ensure that appropriate audit tools are implemented and findings and concerns are acted upon where appropriate.

Work with the local team to ensure the annual clinical audit programmes is undertaken and reported to the corporate team according to timescale.

Implement within the Clinic all Care policies, protocols and pathways as agreed at corporate governance and speciality meetings to ensure Care best practice is adhered to.

Leadership and Development of Medical Workforce: Specifically, the Medical Director will be responsible for:

Providing a service as the primary liaison to the medical staff at the Clinic.

Overseeing the recruitment of good quality, competent clinical staff and ensuring that there are robust systems in place for their competency assessment and induction. Undertake probationary assessments of all new medical appointees to the Clinic.

Ensuring there is Continuing Professional Development for all medical staff. They will support staff to provide the necessary documentation for appraisal and revalidation which is compliant with the guidelines of the GMC and the relevant Royal College.

Support all medical staff employed within the Clinic to undertake enhanced appraisals consistent with GMC guidance annually to enable re-licensing and re-certification.

Supporting systems of peer review and reflective practice locally for medical staff. Providing appropriate support to medical staff within the Clinic, including the identification of opportunities for supervision and training.

Undertaking effective Care performance reviews of all Clinic medical staff on an annual basis to ensure best use of their skills.

Ensuring that all annual leave/ CPD leave for medical staff is managed effectively and complies with Care policies.

Ensuring that weekly medical rotas are in place and provide adequate cover of service for the Clinic. For the management of medical disciplinary issues in liaison with Responsible Officer, Deputy Group Medical Director (North) and People Director.

Clinical Duties: The post holder will be expected to undertake clinical duties as a member of the medical team of the Clinic. The allocation of time to undertake clinical duties will be agreed by the Clinic Director and the Group Medical Director.

The post holder will:

Consult and assess patients and plan and undertake patient treatments.

Undertake the assessment of emergency admissions, arranging appropriate onward referral where appropriate.

Provide clinical support to the nursing staff, who give emergency telephone advice, when on call. Correspond/liaise with general practitioners/referrers/other specialists regarding patients.

Correspond and communicate with patients professionally (e.g. by phone, email, video-conferencing) Ensure the consenting of all patients is undertaken prior to treatment.

Work to ensure there is effective communication with other team members. Attend clinical and team meetings as appropriate.

Work in theatre, carrying out egg collection, embryo transfers and other fertility-related procedures. Carry out the supervision and training of other staff from all disciplines.

Complete clinical notes and documentation (including financial documentation) in accordance with Care protocols and policies.

Participate in audit, clinical risk assessment and clinical governance in accordance with Care protocols and policies.

Participate and contribute in the regular review and updating of clinical procedures, protocols and patient documentation. Be involved in promotion and marketing of the Clinic and its services.

Liaise with the marketing team to agree the marketing plan for the Clinic and to work with the media on advertising campaigns, news stories, etc.

Follow Adult Safeguarding policy and requirements.

Present at Patient Information Evenings and other educational events for patients. Providing clinical cover at other Care clinics as and when needed.

General Requirements:

The post holder will be required Maintain a GMC licence to practise and maintain registration on the GMC Specialist Register, complying with Continuing Professional Development requirements and revalidation with the GMC.

Actively participate in Cares performance management processes and competency assessment processes, in addition to annual appraisal in line with GMC requirements as outlined above.

Comply with the GMC Good Medical Practice guidance and Care clinical protocols and guidelines.
