Job summary
At Care Fertility youll get involved in the full range of lab duties,
such as oocyte collections, sperm preparation and freezing, inseminations and
ICSI, fertilisation and embryo assessments, embryo freezing and transfer, and
oocyte freezing dependent on level of training. You can even get involved in
biopsy if youre trained.
Youd be joining a great clinic, with a great team around you. Were
very collaborative and open to your suggestions for protocol improvement. Care Plymouth
undertakes many complex cases, including PGT-M/SR and social oocyte freezing
and performs around 350 fresh and 300 frozen treatment cycles annually.
Main duties of the job
About you:
Youre a state registered and ICSI trained clinical scientist. If youre biopsy trained then great! But thats not essential though. What is essential is that youre an Embryologist who understands their importance in delivering a quality patient experience.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract, based at our Leeds clinic (Seacroft Hospital, York Road, Leeds LS14 6UH). The clinic is open 7 days a week and we work weekends on a rotational basis

Job responsibilities
As a Clinical Scientist in Embryology you will perform a range of routine embryological duties
including ICSI and embryo biopsy. You will work with the multi-disciplinary team in coordinating
treatment cycles and providing our patients with the best possible treatment experience and as a
team giving each patient the very best chance of success.

Role accountabilities and duties:
Clinical duties
Ensure the highest standard of patient care at all times.
Ensure security and confidentiality in the embryology laboratory.
Perform all routine embryological duties. These including:
Semen analysis
Sperm preparation
Sperm cryopreservation and thawing
Oocyte collection
Fertilisation checking
Embryo grading
Embryo transfer
Oocyte and embryo cryopreservation
Oocyte and embryo thawing
ICSI
Embryo biopsy
Assist in maintaining the Diagnostic Semen Analysis service to UKAS standards
Maintain accurate records of all clinical activities performed.
Maintain accurate records of cryopreserved gametes and embryos.
Assist in the organisation of laboratory data collection.

Attend Patient Information evenings when required.
Attend, and participate in regular unit, clinical and laboratory meetings.
Take part in Cares auditing rota.
Comply with laboratory quality control procedures and policies.

Be involved in overseas work where applicable and to work at other Care units as required.
