As
a Fertility Nurse/Midwife (or Specialist Fertility Practitioner as well call
you), youll provide information and advice on our treatments to patients, as
well as any emotional support. Youll co-ordinate treatment cycle
plans, coach our patients to self-administer fertility drugs, and care
for our patients pre and post theatre as well as in the clinic
The role is varied and will include:
- Performing
venepuncture, interpreting and giving blood results when necessary (training
will be provided for venepuncture and cannulation if required)
- Perform
basic patient assessments, venepuncture and undertake pre-treatment
consultations
- Assist
in theatre procedures, including egg collections, embryo transfers, IUIs and
Hy Co Sy

and support training and conferences.Many of our nurses have extended
their roles and are working as Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

Registered practitioner with a UK professional regulatory body
This practitioner has demonstratable expertise in fertility care and has experience of working in this specialism.
Can plan and organise care and determine which aspects of a situation is important and is therefore able to prioritise clinical care effectively and safely.
Is proficient in the delivery of their care, continuously seeking to improve care, patient experience and team working.
They work at graduate level and are developing their practice to postgraduate level with certification or level 7 modules (or equivalent experience) and porfolios to support their advance clinical competencies such as sedation, ultrasound practice, non medical prescribing or embryo transfers.

Is competent to administer medicines intravenously and has successfully completed IV drug administration training, always adhering to ANTT.
Competent in using Patient Group Directives and actively engages in related CPD.
Understands fully the HFEA definition of legal parenthood and provides accurate support and guidance to patients (and their partners) and can advise other members of the team.
Complies with policy and actively promotes infection prevention and control, which includes universal precautions, hand hygiene and cleaning of the clinical environment appropriately.
Supervise and train other members of the team to ensure standards are consistent.
Undertakes venepuncture and cannulation are undertaken using Aseptic No Touch Technique (ANTT) aligned to best practice policy and SOP
May act as the clinic lead for IP&C
Has completed the abdominal scanning training programme.
Undertakes Abdominal scanning with consent and proactively maintains their competency and skills.
