As
a Fertility Nurse/Midwife youll provide information and advice on our
treatments to patients, as well as any emotional support. Youll co-ordinate treatment cycle plans, coach our patients to
self-administer fertility drugs, and care for our patients pre and post theatre
as well as in the clinic.
The role is varied and will include:
- Performing
venepuncture, interpreting and giving blood results when necessary (training
will be provided for venepuncture and cannulation)
- Perform
basic patient assessments, venepuncture and undertake pre-treatment
consultations
- Assist
in theatre procedures, including egg collections, embryo transfers, IUIs and
Hy Co Sy
- Preparation
of theatre, ward and maintenance of resuscitation trolley

but not essential to have experience of gynae/obstetric, theatre experience,
venepuncture and ultra-scanning.

This is a full-time role working 4
days a week (from Mon-Sat), 3 days at 07:30-17:30 and 1 at 07:30-17:00 with 1
sat in 4. However, for the right person we can be flexible around days worked.

As a Fertility Nurse / Fertility Midwife at Care Fertility, you will provide advice, information, support and clinical care throughout the patients journey. You will work with the multi-disciplinary team in coordinating treatment cycles and providing our patients with the best possible treatment experience and as a team giving each patient the very best chance of success.

Role accountabilities and duties:
Advice and information provision
Provide advice and information to patients, giving patients time and support in understanding their treatment plan and answering patient queries throughout their treatment journey. This will be dealing with questions face to face and over the telephone/ video call and resolving any queries or problems.
Meeting the diverse needs of our patients and having an inclusive approach and embracing diversity.
Being up to date with the regulatory and governance framework by following CAREs induction and learning pathways and participating in the competency assessment process.
Supporting patients with the consent to treatment process, ensuring patients are appropriately informed and aware of the consent requirements and implications. Ensure the consent process is complete in accordance with consent policies and standard operating procedures.
Teaching patients to inject fertility drugs and how to administer other medications during the treatment process.
Advising patients on the next steps of treatment following blood test results and ultrasound scans results.
Providing emotional support to patients with empathy and understanding. Signposting patients to CAREs counselling support services and any relevant external support services.
Participate in patient events and be an ambassador for Care Fertility.
To answer any out of hours queries that arise when holding the on- call phone (this is not 24 hours and is held on a rota basis).
Clinical duties
To undertake clinical duties in an outpatient setting supporting consultations and monitoring of treatment cycles and determining next steps with the support of the clinical team.
To undertake clinical duties in the day case setting including preparing the Procedure Room, assisting with procedures and undertake recovery of patients following sedation. To cannulate patients for their procedure or for intralipid infusion.
The Fertility Nurse / Fertility Midwife post has the potential to grow by extending clinical responsibilities. This could include ultrasound scanning, prescribing and consulting, nurse sedation, intra uterine inseminations and performing embryo transfers. This will depend on the operational needs of the clinic and depend on the training, experience and competency of the job holder.

Input data, find information on the clinical patient database and follow the system pathways to ensure accurate record keeping and efficient and safe processes.
