Job summary

Youll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the embryology services at one of the busiest and biggest clinics in the Care group. Youll manage and coordinate the activities of the team, allocating workloads, ensuring regulatory requirements and quality standards are met, and the standards of patient care delivered is exemplary.

Leadership/management skills are essential (ideally as a Lab Manager, or as a Deputy Lab Manager), as youll be responsible for daily running of the laboratory so not only the embryology team, but also the activities within such as patient support, technically difficult cases. That means leading by example, in a capable and calm manner, even under pressure.

You need to be comfortable adapting to changing workloads. Youre a great communicator, you can explain things simply and clearly to everybody Its important they understand what weve asked them to do and also why we have.

You have great attention to detail and youre able to follow process and best practice making sure others dont deviate from best practice. Youll also always be looking for areas for improvement and feel comfortable putting them forward.

Location/Benefits:

This is a full-time role including some weekend sessions (we offer flexibility where possible) based at Care Manchester (108-112 Daisy Bank Road, M14 5QH).

As a Laboratory Manager at Care Fertility, you will be responsible for the day- to- day management and development of the embryology service. You will be accountable for stringently ensuring regulatory requirements and quality standards are met and high standards of patient care is delivered. You will work with the multi-disciplinary team and will be a critical component in providing our patients with the best possible treatment experience and as a team to give each patient the very best chance of success. Role accountabilities and duties: Management Responsibilities Be an active member of the Clinics Management Team and the Group wide Embryology Team. Attending and contributing to meetings and driving forward the development of the clinic and the wider group donation team. Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the team, ensuring safe practice at all times allocating workloads and responsibilities in an efficient and effective way. Ensure the team delivers the highest standard of patient care at all times. Ensure effective team and 1-1 communication on group wide, local and team matters. Provide appropriate supervision of team members according to their level of capability and competence. Recruit and induct new team members, facilitate informal and formal training and development activities for the team and assess competency levels. Support the development of team members by providing regular feedback and undertaking performance management reviews. Demonstrate leadership and motivation within the embryology team and promote team working. To supervise and undertake the training of Embryologists and support staff. Act as Quality Lead for the department to continually improve processes. Liaise with the local Quality Manager and support with internal audit and actions as required. Provide laboratory oversight to any associated Super Satellite clinics. Advice and information provision Generate and analyse monthly results and participate in clinical and results meetings. Produce monthly Lab Managers reports and attend the Executive meeting as required. Meeting the diverse needs of our patients and having an inclusive approach and embracing diversity. Being up to date with the regulatory and governance framework by following CAREs induction and learning pathways and participating in the competency assessment process. Be an ambassador for Care Fertility. Clinical duties Perform the full range of clinical embryology procedures. Ensure the confidentiality of all practices and activities in the embryology laboratory. Maintain accurate records of cryopreserved gametes and embryos and to conduct audits in line with embryology SOPs. Specify and justify equipment required for capital expenditure budgets. Ensure the security of the embryology laboratory. To ensure adequate and up-to-date stock control and ordering of embryology reagents and consumables. To ensure good quality control and recording of lot/batch numbers. To maintain and update critical equipment list. To assist with the development of the Care donor sperm bank. To maintain an adequate range of donor sperm and observing the pregnancy limit of these. Systems and digital processes Input data, find information on the clinical patient database and follow the system pathways to ensure accurate record keeping and efficient and safe processes. Embrace developments and new systems to maximise results and efficiency. Suggest new ideas and improvements. Use Microsoft Outlook to communicate effectively with colleagues. Teamwork and collaboration To work collaboratively and build trusted relationships with team colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team. Communicate in an engaging way to build relationships.
