Job summary
We are looking for a new Ophthalmic Technician to join our Cheshire Oaks site. This will be 40 hours over 5 days per week including weekends on a rota basis.
Main duties of the job
Ophthalmic Technicians play a key role in our daily eye clinics. They support the Clinical Consultant by triaging patients and helping to ensure the smooth running of the clinics, making sure patient appointments run to time and are conducted in the right manner. Over time, and with development, Ophthalmic Technicians can also run their own clinics.
Ophthalmic Technicians are trained to use all diagnostic equipment and will undertake clinic appointments and also act as a point of escalation if Ophthalmic or Clinic Assistants have queries or concerns.
The thought of eye surgery can be a daunting prospect for patients to deal with, so our Ophthalmic Technicians need to be empathetic and friendly and able to put patients at ease. They also need to be able to explain the purpose of the different tests to ensure the patient understands their treatment.
