Could
you be our new Lead Clinician at Newmedica Lincolnshire?
We
have an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered health professional
to join our dynamic multi-professional team as Lead Clinician. You will provide
leadership, support and development to our Optometry and Advanced Clinical
Practitioner colleagues, working as part of the Senior Leadership Team of our
busy Ophthalmology service. We are a friendly and dedicated team led by six
Partners including five senior Consultant Ophthalmologists. We provide a range
of Ophthalmology services including treatments for Cataracts, Glaucoma,
neovascular AMD, some Vitreoretinal conditions and Oculoplastics.
This
role is offered on a full time basis at a competitive salary and we would love to hear from you if you
are an experienced leader with significant knowledge and experience in
Optometry developments as well as Advanced Clinical Practice. You must hold a
current registration with the GOC, HCPC or NMC and additional post-registration
specialist experience would be an advantage. If you are committed to continuous
improvement through audit and ongoing professional development of the wider

Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties and Responsibilities
To perform a comprehensive range of diagnostic procedures and clinical
assessments, working autonomously and making clinical decisions using own
judgement and initiative within postholders scope of practice.
To analyse and interpret specialist diagnostic test results.
To identify new or deteriorating conditions and carry out relevant tests
and refer to a Consultant, Non-Consultant Doctor or third-party provider, as
appropriate.
To advise patients on the appropriate care for their eye conditions.
To explain the implications of eye conditions, treatment options,
medication and possible side effects to patients, some of which may be
distressed or confused.
To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
To ensure that evidence based clinical standards of care to patients are
achieved.
To ensure the delivery of agreed quality standards, taking any necessary
action to remedy shortcomings in services that contribute to patient care.
To be responsible for ensuring the safe use of specialist equipment.
To keep accurate patient health records, including archiving and other
requirements of record keeping, and write to GPs and other professionals
regarding patient progress and outcomes

Provide supportive and clear objectives to the post holders direct line
reports, holding team to account for delivery of their objectives.
To support senior staff in the investigation of complaints and clinical
incidents, ensuring that any investigations are thorough and that action plans
are completed to enable lessons to be learned and shared.
To ensure that infection risks are identified and acted on.
Development and revision standard operating procedures in collaboration
with clinical partners
To participate in staff recruitment, induction and appraisal of staff, as
required and in line with Newmedicas policies.
Undertake, 1-2-1s, annual appraisals and support the professional
development of clinical staff
Professional Duties
To work within the requirements of the code of practice of their relevant
regulatory and professional bodies.
To be responsible for and demonstrate commitment to Continuing
Professional Development and Clinical Governance.
To participate in training and development of clinical and other groups
of staff.
To participate in clinical audit and research projects, as required.

- Additional postgraduate specialist or equivalent experience required such as a Professional certificate in Glaucoma or Medical Retina
- Current registration with GOC, NMC or HCPC
- EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of clinical practice and demonstrable knowledge of developments in Optometry is required.
- Experience in a position of leadership
- Experience of and commitment to medical audit.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office products and using computerised systems for data input/output and review.
- Capable of seeing at least 22 patients during a clinic day.
