Bank Healthcare Assistant - Theatre

Job summary

We're looking for dedicated and patient-focused Healthcare Assistants to join our Bristol team. As a member of bank staff, you will work on a flexible, as-needed basis to cover staff absences, busy periods or short-term staffing needs and this will include weekends. You'll play an active role in the theatre pathway, supporting patients and the multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and positive patient journey.

Main duties of the job

  • Support patients through their full surgical pathway, from admissions to theatre and discharge.
  • Assist in preparing theatre, conducting safety checks, and supporting the scrub nurse and theatre team.
  • Provide patient care during discharge, including information on post-surgical care and medication dispensing (following training and competencies).
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation with a focus on patient safety.
  • Put patients at ease, working in a calm and process-driven way to deliver excellent care.

  • Proven clinical and or administrative skills with the enjoyment of the routine and rhythm of a process driven and regulated environment.
  • A passion for healthcare and supporting patients.
  • Committed to deliver consistently high standards of care to patients.
  • Confident user of Office 365 and tech systems (training provided).
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A team player mentality with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with calm and clarity.
  • An understanding of CQC standards (advantageous).
