We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Preston, a busy Category B remain prison for males in Preston city centre.
Join the Recovery Team and empower those whom wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. Hours: This is a part time time role, working 30 hours per week. You will work 4 days per week between Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm / 9am - 5pm. Salary: This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary of £34,418 - £41,659 FTE dependent on experience. #LI-AB1Main duties of the job
As our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Manage a caseload of psychosocial patients (around 30) with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
- Work with receptions (new patients entering the prison), triaging and carrying out assessments
- Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and wellbeing
- Deliver SMART sessions, Narcotics Anonymous, Inside Out etc
- Providing a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments, including SMART Recovery
- Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cession, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
- Prepare patients for release and transfer

Our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker will:- Have experience within Substance misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment, and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role
- Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways
- Have experience of managing a caseload
- Have a flexible approach, and excellent communication skills
