We have an exciting opportunity for an Older Adult Clinical Lead to join our Primary Care Team at HMP Wakefield, a category A prison in Wakefield.

This role is pivotal in shaping and developing an integrated older adult pathway within a high secure estate, supporting our older adults with frailty, dementia, and social care requirements. The post holder will work collaboratively with healthcare colleagues, prison operational staff, and external partners to improve outcomes, dignity, safety, and quality of life for older adults in custody.

 Hours

This role is full time working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with weekend flexibility if the business requires

Salary

Youll receive an annual salary of £51,643 - £58,012 depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Older Adult Clinical Lead, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Provide expert clinical leadership for the care, coordination, and development of services for older adults within the prison
  • Provide clinical leadership and management to the registered nurses and care teams.
  • Deputise on behalf of the Deputy/Head of Healthcare when required.
  • Ensure that own clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role.
  • Model a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication and competence.
  • Clinical Lead you will coach, line manage and develop clinician staff; support and contribute in undertaking audits and governance and contribute to developing and reviewing clinical/non clinical Local Operating Protocols for the site.
  • Chair and facilitate specific healthcare meetings with the team and different partners, provide clinical supervision (training available) and carry our investigations locally and for the wider region.

  • Registered Nurse Adult Current professional qualification (NMC)
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Existing line management experience and student nurse mentorship

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
