Registered Nurse to join our Bank team within the Outpatients Department. In this vital role, youll assess patients prior to surgical or medical procedures, ensuring they are clinically fit, fully informed, and safely prepared for treatment. Working closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, youll play a key part in delivering high-quality patient care while supporting a safe, efficient pre-assessment service.

Main duties of the job
You will be part of a close knit collaborative team who pride themselves in providing the highest standard of care to our patients and their families. Our pre-assessment team is comprised of experienced nurses and healthcare assistants supported by our welcoming Management team.
- Carrying out comprehensive pre-operative assessments to determine patient fitness for surgery.
- Providing expert patient education and health promotion advice to ensure patients are informed and prepared.
- Managing pain pre-assessment clinics and supporting injection administration clinics with consultants.
- Identifying risks, escalating concerns and coordinating referrals to appropriate healthcare teams.
- Supervising and supporting healthcare assistants, assistant practitioners and student nurses.
- Working collaboratively with consultants, clinical teams and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient pathways.
- Maintaining accurate electronic records, participating in audits and supporting departmental governance.
- Contributing to staff development through mentoring, supervision and teaching.

- RGN Qualification
- Experience in outpatients or pre-assessment, with knowledge of surgical pathways.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with a patient-centred approach.
- Confident using electronic systems and maintaining accurate clinical records.
- A proactive team player committed to continuous learning, patient safety and high standards of care.
Desirable
: Pre-assessment training, private healthcare experience, phlebotomy skills, and ECG or blood results interpretation.
