Job summary
Practice Plus Group is seeking a motivated, knowledgeable and proactive individual in the role of Environment Health and Safety Manager.
The post holder will support the provision of an efficient and responsive advisory service to all our Primary Care Divisions to enable them to effectively manage their environments, services and teams safely.
This role will be a full time, remote based role but will involve regular travel to our sites across England. Hours can be discussed at interview.
Providing competent, expert health and safety advice and guidance to staff at all levels, offering specialist insight into relevant legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice.
Support the delivery of both basic and specialist risk assessment and risk management training and actively participate in arrangements for the management of key areas such;
- Water safety and legionella
- Security & conflict management
- Lone working
- Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
- Manual handling
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
Main duties of the job
- Lead the development and implementation of health & safety systems, policies and processes to effectively manage risk across the organisation.
- Provide expert advice on health & safety legislation and best practice, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies including HSE, CQC and local authorities.
- Support managers with risk assessments, incident investigations and compliance areas such as COSHH, DSE and RIDDOR reporting.
- Design and deliver health & safety training, audits and inspections to improve safety standards and build capability across teams.
- Act as the organisations competent health & safety lead, working with stakeholders across multiple sites and representing the business in governance and external networks.
About us
- Significant experience of working in health and safety in a complex organisation.
- Experience in a healthcare environment is desirable.
- Experience of investigating of incidents and writing reports.
- Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner (CMIOSH), or working towards this status with relevant health and safety experience (i.e. GradIOSH and participating in CPD).
- NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and associated regulations.
