We are seeking an experienced clinician to work at ILS level within one of the UKs busiest remand prisons, delivering frontline healthcare in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Salary: This position is full time, you'll receive a salary of between £43,609 and £49,174 depending on experience. Hours:37.5 hours worked on a shift basis: 7am - 8pm 8am - 9pm 9am - 10pm 7.45pm - 7.15am
You will work on a rota basis covering weekends on rotation, and nights as required to cover staff leave and sickness. How will we support you?

Main duties of the job
You will be at the heart of prison healthcare, managing triage and unplanned care for a diverse and complex patient population. On a typical day, you will assess and treat patients, responding to a wide range of clinical needs, including:

Emergency response and acute illness

Chronic disease management

Injuries, trauma, and use of force assessments

Patients under the influence of drugs or alcohol

Mental health crises, including self-harm and suicide risk
You will work alongside a highly skilled and experienced multidisciplinary team, including doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners , pharmacists, nurses, support workers, and access to in-house diagnostics such as X-ray, ultrasound, and blood clinics. This collaborative approach ensures high-quality, safe, and effective patient care within a well-supported clinical environment.
This is a role that demands strong clinical judgement, calmness under pressure, and excellent communication skills but it also offers unrivalled professional development and the chance to make a genuine difference to some of the most vulnerable people in society.

Qualifications and experience required:
- Current professional paramedic registration (HCPC)
- Proven post-registration ambulance experience
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
- Proven experience in either: Accident & Emergency, Primary Care environments or Minor injuries / illness
- A confident clinician with experience working at ILS level or above
- Comfortable managing high-pressure situations and autonomous decision-making
- Passionate about delivering equitable healthcare in a non-traditional setting
- Experience in emergency, urgent care, custodial, or other complex environments
