We have an exciting opportunity for a Sexual Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Drake Hall, a women's closed prison, located near the town of Eccleshall in Staffordshire with around 340 females inmates.  Hours
  • Monday - Friday 7.15am - 5.15pm
  • 4 week rolling rota 

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary between 43609- 54000 per annum FTE - depending on experience. 

Some duties include: Support with Health Screening and Monitoring Supporting Health Education and Promotion Act as a Consistent, Trustworthy Point of Contact Monitor Ongoing Health Needs Liaise with Multidisciplinary Teams in primary and secondary care with a clinical understanding of need and prioritisation. Support Transition and Release Planning

Main duties of the job

As a Sexual Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Lead on promotion, assessment, and co-ordinating treatment for patients in all aspects of sexual health (plus contraception within female estate).
  • Duties will include managing long term conditions, wound care, care plans, coordination pathways etc.
  • Survival screening and triage would be desirable
  • Ensure effective and consistent recognition of STIs, symptomatic and asymptomatic screening, taking samples and managing laboratory pathways.
  • Co-ordinate all clinical activity in relation to sexual health and where applicable contraception, conduct STI screening.

Qualifications required

  • Registered Adult Nurse with current registration with NMC
  • 2 years of sexual health experience 
  • Demonstrate a passion for working in sexual health services
  • Evidence of post registration CPD
  • Able to work autonomously as a registered professional by on-going assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care following best practice guidance

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
