We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join the Substance Misuse team at HMP Preston, a Category B male remand prison in Preston city centre! We offer a supportive, fast paced, challenging environment where no two days are the same.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team, and work on our specialist, therapeutic community wing. No 2 days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment. Is it challenging....Yes! It is rewarding....definitely! Hours: This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Shifts are 8am - 4pm / 9am - 5pm. Salary: This position is full time , and youll receive an annual salary of up to £25,557 - £29,723 per annum - depending on experience. Main duties of the job
As our new Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Work within the Non-Clinical Substance Misuse Service, assisting the wider team and ensuring that patients get the best possible care and healthcare
- Assist in group delivery, these are psychosocial based and focus on relapse prevention, drug use, alcohol misuse etc
- Offer harm reduction advice
- Carry out initial assessments and triage, both on reception and on the wings - we have a high turnover of patients here, with an average of 15-20 entering and leaving the prison each day
- Second checking as needed
- Assist the clinical team as needed with recovery tracking - you will not carry out any clinical duties

- Have knowledge of substance misuse and recovery, as well as recovery interventions
