We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatristto join our integrated mental health team at HMP Wealstun. HMP Wealstun is a category C prison located in Thorpe Arche, that houses around 800 patients ages 21+. Within this role you will be joining and established and experienced mental health team, who run a nurse lead service focused on a medical model diagnosis for complex health needs. Psychiatristcaseload of patients would be 4-5 patients per day.
Hours
2.5 days per week to be worked across Tuesday, Wednesday and one additional half day. The half day can be used to complete admin work on site
Salary Youll receive an annual salary up to £196,736per annum FTE - depending on experience.
How will we support you?
- You will be part of a team of 20 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists
- You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meeting and 1:1 clinical supervision.

Main duties of the job
As aConsultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite
- Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
- Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required
- Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
- Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
- Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD
- Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
