We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse  to join our Mental Health team at HMP Garth  

HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a category B Prison located in Lancashire.

You will mainly be based in the Healthcare Department however wing work will also be required as and when. 

HMP Garth Offers:

  • Onsite parking
  • Access to onsite gym
  • Careers and development opportunities

Hours: 

  • Monday - Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week 
  • 8am - 4pm 

Salary

This position is permanent and you will receive an annual salary between £43,609 - £49,175 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
  • Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers
  • Work with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information. You will support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions
  • You will occasionally be required to support dispensing.

  • Registered nurse with current NMC registration - Adult / Mental Health 
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake.
  • Experience of working with opiate dependant patients.
  • Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge.
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach.

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
