Were looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team at Practice Plus Group Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in providing a high standard of food service and enjoys working as part of a supportive, patient-focused team.
Youll be part of a hardworking catering team that helps keep our patients, visitors, and colleagues nourished and happy. Every day will bring variety as you contribute to our caf, kitchen, and ward services all in a professional, clean, and caring environment.
This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours a week over 5 days on a rota basis between Monday and Sunday.
Main duties of the job
As our Catering Assistant, youll play a key role in delivering excellent service across all food and beverage areas within the hospital. You will:
- Assist with the preparation and serving of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners to patients and staff.
- Help maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, following infection control and food hygiene standards.
- Serve meals to patients on the wards, record meal intakes, and report any special dietary needs or issues.
- Support the caf service preparing light meals, sandwiches, and refreshments, ensuring the caf area is clean, tidy, and welcoming.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including dishwashers and beverage machines.
- Maintain accurate temperature and hygiene records in line with hospital policies.
- Provide refreshments for meetings and assist in maintaining staff rest areas.
Your role is essential in making sure every meal service runs smoothly, safely, and with care.
About us
Were looking for someone who brings positivity, reliability, and great attention to detail to our catering service. Ideally, youll have:
- Experience working in a customer service or catering environment (healthcare experience is an advantage).
- A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or a willingness to work towards one.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A flexible and friendly attitude with a commitment to providing excellent service.
- A good understanding of health and safety and food hygiene standards (training will be provided).
