We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leeds. HMP Leeds is a category B mens prison housing males aged 21+. Within this role you will be overseeing the delivery of a high quality GP service at HMP Leeds, and clinically supervise 4 GP's, 2 ANP's, 1 trainee ANP and 1 Trainee MNP. You will also assist with training, rotas, clinical sessions, as well as leading MPCCC and safer prescribing meetings. HMP Leeds has a fast paced healthcare service where no two days are the same. 
 Hours
 This role is full time working 40 hours per week this will include morning, afternoon and evening sessions between Monday to Friday    
Salary This is a full time role, youll receive an annual salary up to £134,162 per annum - depending on experience experience.

Main duties of the job
  Our  Lead General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a Lead General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will
   - Provide medical leadership and expert advice, regarding medical and primary care issues
- Identify and utilise evidence based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines
- Chair the MPCCC & safer prescribing meetings and support 72 hour review meetings
- Ensure systems and processes in place for managing results, letters, tasks
- Be a core member of the local QA and MM meetings
- Review RCA findings and engage with action planning, ensuring lessons learned are embedded
- Support the development of Local Operating Policies
- Support the Head of Healthcare at Local Delivery Board meetings
- Attend Clinical Forums
- Reviewing CVs for potential new GPs and locum/agency GPs and support the recruitment of new GPs into the service
- Oversee the induction of new GPs into the local site
- Support other GPs working in the service with peer review & clinical supervision
- Support the Head of Healthcare with any discussions about poor performance and escalate if necessary to regional cluster lead where considering referral to DMG

Qualifications required   - MBChB or MBBS 
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- RCGP 1 and 2 substance misuse qualifications or a willingness to undertake the qualifications
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse

-  Evidence of continuing professional development
-  Knowledge and methods of developing clinical quality assurance
- Ability to develop evidence based best practice
