We have an exciting opportunity for an Mental Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wakefield, a category A Prison located in West Yorkshire.
Hours
7 day service. Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00 or 08:00-18:00, Saturday-Sunday 8:30-16:30.
18:00 finish, weekend duties and bank holidays are shared across the team.
No night shifts.Salary
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £40,500 per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Mental Health Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will
- You will work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.
- You will undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
- You will assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge, as well as Open, maintain, close and take part in reviews of individuals being managed under the Prison Suicide and Self Harm risk management system known as Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT).

Qualifications required:
- NMC registered Mental Health Nurse
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
