Due to the upcoming recategorisation of HMP Brixton to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team. The site is based close to Brixton underground station with good access via public transport. This role will specifically involve working within receptions, with the new intake of patients on Saturdays. During the receptions time we offer a nurse led service, GP's will be involved in same day medications, leavers medication, acute health needs and substance misuse detox and prescribing. 

 Hours

 Saturday 8am-4pm

Salary

 This position is part time working 8 hours per week. Youll receive an annual salary up to £129,500 full time equivalent per annum - depending on experience

Main duties of the job

Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldnt usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active
  • involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
