We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at HMP Stocken, a category C men's Prison located in Rutland.

Hours

The site currently offers Monday - Friday; 8am - 4pm or 9am - 5pm

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £28,690 per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Mental Health Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • You will assist the mental health team in the delivery of immediate and, where appropriate, ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team.
  • You will be expected to support people to access care and treatment appropriately within the prison setting, working independently with lone working at times.
  • You will contribute to the positive and aspirational workings of the integrated mental health care team, ensuring that each and every patient is treated with care, respect and dignity. You will also provide assistance with delivery of mental healthcare needs, within the Healthcare Department.
  • Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.

Qualifications required 

  • We are looking for someone who has previous experience as a mental health support worker. 
  • You'll have the ability to treat service users with respect and dignity at all times, adopting a culturally sensitive approach, which considers the needs of the whole person. 
  •  Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
