Practice Plus Group are delighted to have been awarded the healthcare contract for HMP Fosse Way, Category C resettlement prison in Leicester from 1st July 2025.
HMP Fosse Way opened in May 2023. Its state-of-the-art design and facilities offer a secure environment to provide skills and qualifications to the men, enabling them to secure meaningful employment on release with the aim of reducing reoffending rates.
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join the team at HMP Fosse Way from the beginning of July.
We will consider applications from candidates looking for a full time or part time role. The salary is up to £125,000 full time equivalent depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patient. As a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you would not usually experience within a practice, or A&E environment.
- provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active
- have involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Experience, skills and qualifications required:
- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
