We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupation Therapist to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton, a category C Prison located in London.
HMP Brixton is a male prison with a capacity of 800 prisoners. It is one of the oldest prisons in England which is very busy in terms of healthcare, Occupational Therapist will need to be experienced and able to hit the ground, running managing own caseload and work creatively in challenging environment.Hours
7.5 hours per week (can be flexible with which day as long as its the same day each week)Salary
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £50,364 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Be responsible for the provision of occupational therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation.
- Provide visible and professional support to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and rehabilitation aimed at improving or maintaining independence.
- Working with a caseload of patients with varying difficulties including complete health and social care needs; responding effectively to the changing needs of the patient caseload, managing the sometimes conflicting priorities of prevention of admission and discharge.
- Youll assess and order equipment as identified by patient need and allocate work to OT assistant or care staff as necessary. Establishing communication networks with other team members, patients and other health and social care agencies, attending joint visits with other professionals as required.

- Diploma/ degree in occupational therapy with current professional qualification (HCPC)
- Post registration experience and evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
