We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Brixton, a category B Prison located in Brixton, London

HMP Brixton is a Male Prison that has recently been re-rolled from a Cat C to a Cat B prison. It's the oldest prison in London and houses 770 inmates. The prison provides a range of healthcare from Primary Care, Mental Health and Substance Misuse Support and Nursing support. Nursing care is 24 hours. 

The ideal candidate will need to have the Substance Misuse Specialism as NMP and have experience prescribing for opiate or NPS patients as well as alcohol dependency.

Hours

Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week 0900 - 1730 (can be flexible with start / finish times)

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £58,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Substance Misuse Non Medical Prescriber your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Undertakes Clinical Nursing Practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients
  • Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
  • Provide treatment as required, including prescribing medication, within their sphere of competence.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments of patients looked after.
  • Provide advice/support in relation to crisis situations, conditions, and treatment plans, based on medical and treatment history.
  • Carry out a clinical review with the patient and update care plans accordingly

Qualifications required: 

  • Registered professional with current active registration (NMC, GPHC, HCPC)
  • BSc or equivalent qualification
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification (must have Substance Misuse specialism)
  • Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services including , Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework
  • Understanding of evidence based practice
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
