We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy Team at HMP Winchester, a Category B male prison just outside of the city centre. HMP Winchester has free onsite parking as well as excellent transport links - there is a bus stop opposite the site and the train station is a 10 minute walk.

This is a fantastic entry route into a Pharmacy in a unique environment, with lots of opportunities for training and career development!   Hours:   You will be working 37.5 hours per week, usually between 09:00 - 17:30.   Salary: This position is full time, and youll receive an annual salary of up to £25,900 per annum - depending on experience.   How will we support you?

Main duties of the job

As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

• Complete general dispensary duties and stock management 
• Be working as an active member of the Pharmacy team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
• Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
• Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing based clinical areas
• Participate in dispensing of prescriptions and medical equipment

Our new Pharmacy Assistant will:

• Ideally have an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards
• Medicines handing experience desirable not essential Ideally have experience within a Pharmacy environment (such as community or hospital based), but this isn't essential
• Any experience with ProScript or SystmOne would be a bonus
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
• Excellent communication skills
• Good IT skills and IT literacy
