Job summary
Where your work helps shape the healthcare of tomorrow Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet provides a hand, wrist and foot surgery service to the local community and on occasions sub-contract service for local Acute Trusts. As part of this service, a comprehensive orthopaedic plaster service is required based in our Outpatient Department. We are looking for an experienced individual to provide professional and technical support to Hand, Wrist, and Foot Surgeons by demonstrating a high standard of expertise of orthopaedic casting techniques. In addition, you will act as a facilitator to the learning needs of other staff groups including medical and nursing staff. NB: This role offers a BANK CONTRACT so hours will be offered as and when the site requires cover for sickness or annual leave or extra workload.
Main duties of the job
With prior plastering experience to kick-start your success in this role, you will demonstrate best practice according to the Association of Orthopaedic Practitioners (AOP) and British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) codes of professional practice. You will apply your knowledge, skills and experience, delivering a first class service to patients. It is important that you can be accountable for own professional actions and not require supervision to deliver specialist casting and able to work according to the Association of Orthopaedic Practitioners (AOP) and British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) codes of professional practice.
- 3-5 years plaster experience
- Comfortable advising and educating patients and their carers on all aspects of caring for their casts/splints in relation to their injury both with verbal and written information
- Confident ensuring all clinical documentation is recorded and completed correctly
