If youre looking for a role where you can develop your existing clinical skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this could be the opportunity for you.   As a Bank Mental Health Nurse working within the team at HMP Thameside you will work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options. You will undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed. You will assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge.   You will ensure that you assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made. You will also be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment.

HMP Thameside is a local category B resettlement prison in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London and is situated next to HMP Belmarsh. HMP Thameside is Londons only private prison and can currently hold 1232 convicted and remand male prisoners.
