Practice Plus Group have an exciting opportunity for a Neurodiversity Specialist Team Leader with a passion for the field of neurodiversity/LD/neurology/complex care. This role offers the opportunity for wide-ranging development working as part of an Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) working within a Trauma Informed Care Approach. You'll provide direct and/or indirect support for those presenting with neurodiversity/ learning difficulties, as well as support for those with long-term neurological conditions such as Alzheimers and/or Dementia and will support the IMHT with training in relevant areas. You'll be a lynch pin in the team, making a huge difference to our prisoners quality of life.

As well as supporting the IMHT you will provide guidance to prison colleagues to inform prison plans and improve prisoner management and safety. You will help shape and inform the neurodiversity and Learning disability pathways within Practice Plus Group and liaise with NHSE colleagues to ensure robust clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

You'll be a qualified RGN/RMN/RNLD, psychologist or a professional in a relevant field and hold a current NMC/HCPC or equivalent registration, evidence of continued professional development and a supervision qualification. You will be required to support the management of complex prisoners who may have social or environmental needs, which complicate the ability to deliver nursing care effectively and successfully. You will have responsibility for care quality performance and clinical activity by providing professional clinical leadership and guidance, clinical advice and management in relation to the key dimensions of health care quality.

About us

  HMP Belmarsh is a Category A mens prison with an operational capacity of over 910 inmates and is located in South East London.  

HM Prison Thameside is a local Category B resettlement prison as is based in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London.

Both HMPs Belmarsh and Thameside are located next to each other, and are only a short (2 minute) walk away, making the ability to work across both of the sites an effective opportunity for this role.

The dedicated team in the Health in Justice division of Practice Plus Group make a real difference across over 45 prisons, young offenders and immigration removal centres.
