We are seeking to recruit a Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological Therapist for HMP Belmarsh to be a part of the Integrated Mental Health Team. The post holder will provide assessment and interventions for complex patients, offer consultation/reflective practice to the team/wider prison and clinically supervise staff within the team.

The service works with adult males who exhibit mental health, emotional and relational difficulties. These difficulties may have contributed to individuals having contact with criminal justice and/or difficulty whilst in custody. The therapies portion of the service will provide psychological assessment and intervention via two pathways; Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT) and a trauma pathway. The post holder will have significant scope to grow. Additionally, you will also be required to utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development The post holder will support the integrated mental health team in the overall development of the availability of evidence-based therapies.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have post-qualification professional experience in Clinical / Forensic Psychology and have a full HCPC registration. You will be expected to have a broad understanding of trauma and its impact not only on service users but also staff and the organization as a whole. As the proposed model is psychologically and trauma informed, it is essential that the post holder has the necessary clinical skills and experience to support senior staff and the organisational skills to engage and work with other stakeholders within the complex environment of a prison.   How will we support you? Youll receive an annual salary up to 62,785 per annum - dependent on experience.
