Consultant Dermatologist Clinical Lead

Job summary

We are looking for a motivated consultant dermatologist to provide clinical leadership across our growing community dermatology service. Working as part of an innovative team you will play a key role in delivering high-quality dermatological care while supporting service development and workforce supervision. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine hands on clinical practice with strategic oversight in an environment committed to improving dermatology services in the community setting across Greater Manchester.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job:

  • The post holder will be required to work flexibly to provide the Dermatology service, undertaking Dermatology procedures in a community setting.
  • Demonstrate delivery of high standards of care.
  • Maintain high standards and undertake relevant training in line with best practice guidance
  • Ensure each patient is involved in decision-making regarding their care.
  • Respect the privacy and dignity of patients and other staff at all times.
  • Take ongoing responsibility for leading the management of patients under his/her care
  • Participate in the development of the Dermatology service, treatment protocols and guidelines and the greater knowledge in the management of conditions
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialities and with General Practitioners and medical professionals from acute hospitals.
  • Demonstrate a firm involvement in clinical governance, risk management and clinical audit, including participation in the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continuous and safe clinical practice

Job purpose to provide clinical leadership and delivery of high-quality dermatology services across multiple community-based clinics across Greater Manchester. The role combines direct clinical care with oversight responsibilities to ensure the service standards are met.

The post holder will:

  • Deliver expert dermatological assessment, diagnosis and treatment
  • Provide clinical leadership to all clinicians within the dermatology service
  • Ensure the service operates in line with current best practice, NICE guidelines and national dermatology standards
  • Contribute to clinical governance, including participation in audits, incident reviews and continuous improvement processes
  • Work collaboratively on service planning and development
  • Run regular dermatology clinical, seeing both new and follow-up patients referred via primary care pathways
  • Carry out lesion assessment, skin surveillance and minor procedures where appropriate
  • Ensure appropriate onward referrals for secondary care where clinically indicated
  • Provide clinical advice and support
