Job summary

As a Senior Biomedical Scientist at our Tunbridge Wells Hospital, you'll bring the relevant qualifications and laboratory experience in multidisciplinary biomedical science. You have a good working knowledge of different analytical equipment in a range of techniques. You're also a natural communicator and team player, and you share our idea of quality.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Biomedical Scientist you will have/demonstrate:

  • Deliver quality pathology services and taking a share of covering out of hours service as required.
  • Ability to cut 30 or more blocks per hour.
  • Full understanding of histology processes, from cut up to processing, embedding and staining.
  • Ability to interact with the consultant histopathologists.
  • Maintain full UKAS compliance.
  • Perform biomedical diagnostic testing, interpretation and reporting, through to quality control.
  • Keep records of specimens, results, reagents and consumables.
  • Support the organisation in validating and assessing new equipment and developing new diagnostic procedures.
  • This is part of our ongoing quest to deliver the very best experience possible for patients.
  • Relevant laboratory experience in multi-disciplinary biomedical science is desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of different analytical equipment in a range of multi-disciplinary techniques.
  • Great communication and team player skills. The ability to understand how vital it is to maintain good customer relationships and provide high levels of service in a modern pathology laboratory.
