Pharmacy Assistant
Nuffield Health Hospital Tunbridge Wells | Pharmacy | Permanent | Part Time 0.8WTE
Starting salary £24,531 per annum based on 1.0WTE (£19,624 for 0.8WTE)
30 hours per week, worked over 4 or 5 days per week
Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will:
Work closely with all other members of the Pharmacy team to provide and excellent level of service to our patients and other departments within the hospital
Manage stock control of all medicines and other consumables within the Pharmacy Department
Be responsible for the procurement of pharmaceutical stock for the Pharmacy using appropriate electronic systems
Receive and check bulk orders of medicines from our wholesalers, dealing with problems that arise in a timely and efficient fashion
Deal with delivery and invoice queries related to the medicines ordered and received
Distribute medicines to wards and departments within the hospital to ensure timely and effective patient treatment
Assist in the dispensing of medicines within our dispensary, to ensure the timely and safe supply of medicines to patients
Undertake audit to monitor standards of medicines management
Represent the Pharmacy team at our staff forum and infection prevention committee

Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (or GPhC recognised equivalent qualification), or a willingness to work towards this qualification which would be commenced in the workplace within 3 months of employment and completed within agreed timescale
Experience of handling goods and stock management, and be comfortable with the physical element of this part of the role
IT skills and computer literacy
Excellent communication and team-working skills
Ability to problem solve
Previous Pharmacy or healthcare experience is advantageous but not essential for this role. We would welcome applicants from a community pharmacy background looking for a new role in hospital pharmacy, and candidates from other industries with good experience of stock management and distribution.
