Main duties of the job

As our Clinical Coder you will: Provide a Clinical Coding service for all Nuffield Health hospitals Code a high-volume of activity per day, to an accurate standard Access various information systems, e.g. pathology/radiology, to obtain further information to ensure completeness and accuracy of coding Respond professionally to queries from hospitals and consultant surgeons Provide Clinical Coding support during periods of sickness and annual leave Provide coding expertise as required by the business Escalate any issues to the Specialist Lead or Clinical Coding Manager, when appropriate

  • Provide a Clinical Coding service for all Nuffield Health hospitals
  • Code a high-volume of activity per day, to an accurate standard
  • Access various information systems, e.g. pathology/radiology, to obtain further information to ensure completeness and accuracy of coding
  • Respond professionally to queries from hospitals and consultant surgeons
  • Provide Clinical Coding support during periods of sickness and annual leave
  • Provide coding expertise as required by the business

  • The person To succeed as a Clinical Coder, you will need:
  • Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC)
  • At least 3 years of experience working in NHS Clinical Coding
  • Advanced level knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding classifications
  • Advanced level knowledge of complex medical terminology, detailed anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to sustain high volume and high-quality work product, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a larger/virtual team
  • Must have National Clinical Coding qualification - developed by IHRIM
